Line Art Image: Create Art With Lines
This week: I have been experimenting with making art only using lines. The simple line can be long, short, wide, narrow, colorful or grayscale. You can keep it straight, curve it, or overlap lines to create different effects. Let’s explore a few different ways you can use lines to create art.

Doodle

Line Art
I created this as a doodle, just to test out different lines and shapes. So it is more of a sketch than a finished piece. But you can take the concept of lines and dotted lines and create a whole landscape, portrait, or abstract piece that is striking.
Create movement

Line Art of Ocean Sunset
Lines can create movement. Even though there is space in between the lines in this picture, you can clearly see that it is an ocean and a sunset. This piece feels very vibrant and alive.
Lines that create a pattern
As you can see in this example, short lines spaced closely together created the appearance of more lines. Put together, it created a pattern that I applied to a bedspread. The entire image is short, close lines that move from one direction to the other.
Cross-hatch

Crosshatch
Cross-hatching is a technique used to create different shading values on a drawing. The closer the lines, the denser you pack them together, the more shaded it will appear. You can also create interesting textures with this method.
While this isn’t an exhaustive list, I hope you found it helpful in exploring the many ways the simple line can be used in creating art.
